KOSMOPOLIS
Kosmopolis
October 2025
The Kosmopolis festival is conceived as a space for exploring the relationships between the word, knowledge, and major contemporary challenges, creating a transversal meeting point between literature, science, philosophy, arts, and critical thought. From this foundation, the project proposes returning to the origin: understanding writing, thought, and philosophy as a conversation among equals, open and shared.
The spatial proposal expresses the idea of a culture under construction, materialized through contemporary agoras that foster horizontal dialogue. A matrix system of squares articulates the complex, with the Pati de les Dones as the central public axis and the Plaça de Joan Coromines as a link between the buildings, extending the festival’s activity both indoors and toward the city.
The materiality responds to criteria of sustainability and conceptual coherence: reused structures, raw materials, mechanical assembly systems, and rented or recycled elements, with the explicit goal of achieving a minimal carbon footprint. This objective is presented as a core value of the festival and the CCCB, incorporating one of the major global issues as an active part of the event’s content. The spatial objects and devices themselves become platforms for debate, exhibition, and gathering, using reused materials as generative and identifying elements of the space.
