SÁNDOR RESTAURANT
El Reloj Group

Location: Plaça Francesc Macià, Barcelona
Date: 2018
Constructed area: 242m2

The Bar Restaurant Sándor opens its doors again in the hands of the Grupo de Restauración El Reloj. Emblematic for its terrace, it has witnessed the growth and social change of Barcelona since 1944.

A complete refurbishment is planned with a total renovation of its facilities and technical services.

The restaurant has three distinct public areas, the terrace, the bar and the dining room.
A very studied interior design reminiscent of the bourgeois spaces of the mid-twentieth century, generate a warm and friendly atmosphere where the use of fine materials is the predominant tone.

Stained oak wood with moldings is used both in the front of the bar and in the access doors to the kitchen, bathrooms and storeroom. Bathroom doors with frosted glass and sheers take us back to that era.
The wall coverings with lacquered wood panels in midnight blue are mixed with aged mirrors and a mural, also aged, with classic motifs.
The living room is presided over by a Louis XV style antique wood fireplace on a reclaimed solid brick wall.
The floors are porcelain stoneware in large format mixed with hydraulic mosaic carpets in blue tones, another reminder of Barcelona’s past.
The use of ceramics, as always very important, give the note of modernity to the space generated, both in the front of the bar and in the bathrooms.
The ceiling, considered as one more facade of the premises, with its plasterboard beams and coffered ceiling reminds us again of the bourgeois spaces of Barcelona.
All this, together with a very studied and careful lighting and a comfortable and modern furniture where the tabletops of the tables made of wood recovered from the beams of the Conde Duque de Olivares Palace in Madrid stand out, envelop you in a warm and traditional, but at the same time modern atmosphere.

The terrace, on the other hand, adapts to the new urban reality of Barcelona. Elegant and neat all in black tones, tables, chairs and parasols, with warm and careful lighting in both parasols and planters.
